Every Tuesday at Noon Central, we’re dropping a new limited-release. We’ve collected a decade’s worth of ideas, and the ten year anniversary seems liked good time to launch some product.
Clamps to the top of your hihat rod and delivers a mix of metal and wooden chings and rattles when you need them most. The screw posts are reconfigurable if you want to mix up the jingles or add your own stuff to em.
Shoutout to James Mercer for posting about not being able to find Ringo’s version and prompting us to come up with our own.
Also shoutout to anyone who was able to watch Get Back without googling their ages and feeling self-conscious about how your life is going.
These are currently in process, I’ll ship them first in first out, might take a week or two. Don’t let me down.
Drop #9 - The Hihat Tambourine Ringo Used in the Peter Jackson Documentary “Get Back” (a Tribute) - Feb 8th
It jangles and it chings and it crunches. Digitally remastered with cutting edge Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
It’s good to have options.
This things is the exact dimensions of two HardHats stuck together and will take any of the HardHat strips you’ve got laying around. It’s solid Cherry and will ship with a double-width piece of perf steel, and 3 other random strips of my choosing. Feel free to add additional strips if you want to have a say in what you get :)
The intent of this product was to get a block wide enough for my pal at Case Bass to add a hardware mount to the back, but I realize that’s not for everybody, and lots of you just set em on the floor tom anyway. SO, I’m shipping these un-drilled for any type of mounting. If you want to me to figure out how to mount a bracket, shoot me an email and I’ll catch you on the next batch.
Drop #8 - The HardHat DoubleWide - Jan 20th
If you stick 2 HardHats together, they’re wide enough to put a tom mount bracket on the back. So we did that so our friends at Case Bass could do that.
***This product is currently in Preorder (with a few slots on sale for getting in early), with a anticipated first ship date in mid-February.***
The "Musical Saw" and the Electric Guitar have been around for decades. The JackSaw combines the sounds of the singing saw with the easy amplification of the electric guitar into a clean and simple package.
You want to plug in to some pedals? Not a problem.
You want to move around the stage and jam out a solo? You got it.
You're tired of the feedback with your current saw monitor setup? We've got you covered.
I'm not the first person to mount a pickup to a saw blade, but you won't find a cleaner, more contained electric saw ours.
The 31" blade gives an extended range to the 26". Each saw features a hand-cut, oiled blade and a one-of-a-kind vintage handle. There are no teeth to cut you up, so you can play whichever edge suits you. We protect the blades with T-9 Boeshield, which will eventually wear away and allow the blade to patina, but any machine oil should keep the blade rust-free if applied every couple of months or so.
The handles are carefully restored and given a shot of Montana 94 paint before being sealed for durability. Some saws are stamped with the names of previous owners or marred from years of use, so each handle is one of a kind, as you can see from the photos.
The musical saw is an easy instrument to start. There are tons of great youtube video demonstrations, and you'll be making it sing within an hour, for sure.
Drop #7 - The Return of the JackSaw - Dec 7th
It’s been over a year since we’ve cut a fresh JackSaw blade. We’ve got a small batch in process, should be ready to ship before the end of the month.
My friend Joe texted a pic of a pedal tambourine and asked if we could do the same with a shaker. This is what we came up with.
It was designed with our Beercan shakers in mind, but it’s capable of holding pretty much any shaker shape. The natural period of the swing is determined by the length of the rod, so you can vary it by 3 inches and see what works best. You can also put shakers in the top and/or front holder to adjust the feel and sound. Finally, your spring tension effects the return, so there are lots of variables to play with.
Drop #6 - Pinwheel - Nov 23
Maybe you need 2 hands for something and you still want a shaker going. Maybe you can train your foot to handle that job. Maybe this thing could help you. Maybe I could have picked a more descriptive product photo.
We’ve got a limited supply of exotic wood HardHats with some dynamite grain variations. There’s 4 available each of Bocote, Spalted Tamarind, and Marblewood. I tried to convey the colors of each, but you can google those for more pics of the grain patterns and colors. If you’ve already got strips and just need a chassis, let me know in the note and I’ll refund you $10 or throw in a shaker instead of the strips.
The HardHat gives you adjustable sounds like a closed Hi-Hat, but fits in a stick bag and mounts easily. The Index HardHat is made from 4 pieces of metal, stacked interchangeably to provide a sound as loose or as clicky as you want. We use a variety of beautiful woods for the block, all sealed in a durable clear finish, so find a grain that speaks to you go for it! The wood doesn’t change the sound, but the strip options do!
All Exotics come with Standard Steel Strips - 4 strips, 2 of flat steel, 1 of heavier perforated steel for rigidity, and one of separated steel for activity. They ship stacked how I play mine, but you’re free to mix and add and rearrange until you find the sound you’re looking for.
If you want to add Strips, grab ‘em here
Drop #5 - Exotic HardHats - Nov 16
An exotic twist to an old favorite.
Drop #4 - The Wiggle Clapper - Nov 9
You wiggle, it claps. Easy peasy.
The Hex was created to mostly hand out on your hats. The XL fits perfectly on a 14
snare. My friend Scotti got a big bell crash/ride and needed something in the middle, so we made some intermediates. Pictured is the Hex 12 in a 12” tom and the Hex 9 on a Zildjian Constantinople 18” crash.
Sizes are roughly:
The Hex (Original) - 4.25” inside, 9” outside
The Hex 9 - 5.5” inside, 10” outside
The Hex 12 - 6.5” inside, 11.25” outside
Hex XL - 10” inside, 14” outside
As with all of The Drops, when they’re gone, they’re gone, so grab ‘em if you need!
Drop #3 - The Hex 9 and Hex 12 - Oct 26
In case you needed to spread your jangle around, we made a couple of options between the Original and the XL. Perfect for a 12” tom or a big bell ride.
We’ve got 8 shaker flavors at the moment, and somehow we still need more sounds. The Twofer and Threefer allow you to interchange your Index Beercan Shakers in a secure chassis. You can load up two of the same tones for double-volume, or mix and match whatever works for ya. Easy to grip, easy to swap, easy to love. You could try a Smooth/Smooth/Canxixi or Hoppy/Pony/Bonzo or maybe a Stout/Stout/Amber?
(shakers not included)
(You might need to grab a spare shaker or a value pack while you’re here.)
All credit to Drumgees for the idea and loaning us their elastic technology. I bought a set of Drumgees a long time ago and I love ‘em and you might find a use for them too.
DROP #2 - Twofer & Threefer - Oct 19

The HardHat XL is the first Index Drop as we celebrate 10 years in the business. It’s almost 16” long and fits on a floor tom, but is heavy enough to sit anywhere and not jump around too much while you’re playing it. Its got a springy crash provided by 2 strips of chopped saw blades mounted loosely to a butcher block chassis. The securing nut is nylon-threaded and stays where you put it, so you can go tight or loose as a goose.
This probably isn’t for you, and that’s very OK with me. Over the years, people keep pitching ideas or asking for extremely niche sounds that might not have the mass appeal of our Shakers or Snares. Maybe it was boredom, or maybe I was missing the feeling of Launch Days, but something made me commit to weekly drops at non Central for every remaining Tuesday in 2021. We’ll see how long I last, and if any of these ideas appeal to more than 10 or so people. Hopefully we’ll come up with something you can use. If you’ve got needs, as always, reach out on the contact page and we’ll see if we can figure something out together. -Paul
